Picnik.com – Fun & Free Photo Editing
Posted October 30th, 2008 by David FairLet me introduce you to Picnik.com. According to their home page:
Picnik makes your photos fabulous with easy to use yet powerful editing tools. Tweak to your heart’s content, then get creative with oodles of effects, fonts, shapes, and frames. It’s fast, easy, and fun.
Most of the photo editing services are free, but you can also sign up for the premium service, which is $24.95 per year. I have found the free service to be more than adequate. In fact, it’s great!
Here are a few examples of editing I did on some Grand Marais, Minnesota photos.
I edited this photo of Maple Hill Church (above) by applying the Vignette effect and a light brown Tint. It looks like an antique black and white photo, doesn’t it?
This totally cool effect on Grand Marais, Minnesota harbor (above) was created by combining the Boost effect and the Invert effect. Love it!
World’s Best Donuts (above) is a famous doughnut shop in downtown Grand Marais, MN. I used the Gooify effect with a Matte edge to create this fun image.
This lovely photo of Grand Marais harbor (above) was edited with the Lomo-ish effect to magnify the yellows and the shadows. Then I applied a Focal Zoom to the sailboat on the left. Finally, I added a yellow star shape to each corner – just for fun.
And there are many more editing features than the ones sampled here. Give Picknik.com a try. It’s free!
Then let me know what you think.
