Cake in a Mug

Here’s a fun treat. Cake in a mug.
It’s quick. It’s easy. Have fun with the kids.
Ingredients:
* 4 Tablespoons flour
* 9 Tablespoons hot chocolate mix
* 1 egg
* 3 Tablespoons water
* 3 Tablespoons oil
* handful of chocolate chips
* cooking spray
Directions:
* Spray a jumbo mug or microwavable bowl with cooking spray
* Stir the flour and hot chocolate mix together in the mug or bowl
* Add the egg, water, and oil
* Stir until all dry ingredients have been moistened
* Stir in some of the chocolate chips (your discretion)
* Cook in the microwave on high 2 1/2 to 3 minutes
* Remove from microwave with hot pads and immediately sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top of cake (melted chips will create a chocolate coating on top of the cake)
These instructions make one rather large serving. I used a ceramic bowl rather than a mug. If you use a mug, make sure it is a jumbo mug.
Microwaves are different from conventional ovens. Expect the consistency of the cake to be more dense than an oven-baked cake. You will also want to break up the cake with a fork to let the steam escape, or let it cool completely before eating. It will be very hot.
I like cake to be moist, so I microwaved it for 2 1/2 minutes. It’s fun to watch the cake as it cooks. It will rise quickly as if it is “alive”.
Add ice cream or whipped cream if you like.
It may not be as good as a homemade, oven-baked, chocolate cake, but it is easy, fast, and fun. Enjoy!
